George Place
Rooftop Plant Room Construction
Complete Rooftop HVAC Infrastructure Upgrade by Corellian
The George Place project showcased Corellian's expertise in complex rooftop mechanical installations, combining precision demolition, heavy lifting operations, and structural construction to deliver a complete plant room solution. This comprehensive project transformed the building's rooftop HVAC infrastructure from concept to completion.
The Job
Demolition and Site Preparation
The project commenced with the careful removal of existing rooftop infrastructure. Corellian's team executed the complete demolition and removal of outdated Air Handling Units (AHUs) and associated ductwork, clearing the rooftop to make way for the new mechanical systems. This phase required meticulous planning to ensure safe removal while maintaining building operations below.
Precision Tower Crane Lifting Operations
One of the project's most challenging aspects involved the delivery and placement of three new AHUs via tower crane lift. Corellian coordinated the complex rigging and lifting operations, ensuring the safe positioning of these critical mechanical units on the rooftop. The precision required for this phase demonstrated Corellian's expertise in managing high-value equipment installations in constrained urban environments.
Structural Steel Framework Construction
Following the AHU installation, Corellian's team supplied and installed all galvanized structural steel required to construct the new plant room framework. The structural work formed the backbone of the rooftop enclosure, engineered to support the mechanical equipment while withstanding environmental loads and providing long-term durability through galvanized protection.
Louvered Plant Room Enclosure
The final construction phase saw the installation of a sophisticated louvered wall system surrounding the plant room. These louvers provide essential ventilation for the mechanical equipment while creating a weather-resistant enclosure. The louvered design allows optimal airflow to the AHUs while protecting equipment from the elements and maintaining aesthetic integration with the building's architecture.
Mechanical Fixture Installation
Corellian completed the project by delivering, preparing, and placing all mechanical fixtures and fittings, readying them for final connection by the building's plumbing contractors. This comprehensive approach ensured seamless coordination between trades and a successful project handover.
The George Place project exemplifies Corellian's ability to manage multifaceted construction challenges, from demolition through to precision installation of complex mechanical systems. Their expertise in rigging, structural steel work, and building enclosures makes them the trusted partner for demanding rooftop infrastructure projects requiring technical precision and flawless execution.
